Herman Sr. at 93 years and Elvina. Life wasn't easy but it was much easier when you are perfect partners.
The Zibell family worshipped most of their entire married life at this Holy Church on Spotted Road, the Trysil Zion Lutheran Church.
In all walks of life, one needs a certain amount of socializing. The Ziebells found that and more when they joined the Gardenspot Grange. They were members when the original Grange was dismantled and was rebuilt. They purchased the lumber and built their new barn. The very barn you see above, still standing straight and tall.
The back field for the Deer Park Stags, Herman Zibell, Don Steele and Fred Roll, the fearless threesome. All three were all around top athletes. Herman was a Star.
Handsome little Herman and the three sisters who were somehow able to help him grow up without spoiling him.
Then one Saturday night at the Gardenspot Grange dance they had a bit to much Sneaky Pete and ended up in the United States Navy, Little Johnny, Byron James and Herman Zibell set out to Sail.
Mr. Zibell was a Prince because he refrained from saying what he was thinking. Mrs Zibell was a Princess because she said what she was thinking. She was beautifull inside and out.
before it was moved to Deer Park in 1949. The painting of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane was done by Gustavas Eugene Burgh in 1910. It took him a year to complete. The painting is still the center of the altar of Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park today over 100 years later. Our thanks go to Karen Meyer, President of the Loon Lake Historical Society, for this jewel of a picture. The altar railing shown here is now the railing for the balcony which was added when the Church was moved.
Dorothy Zibell Boggs, her son Mike on the left, her nephew Don Stevens on the right. Don is Luella Zibell Stevens's son.
Herman Jr. was born in this house in 1931. Mr. Zibell took the girls all down stairs as the time neared. When the blessed event was over they all rushed up to see their Mother and their brand new baby brother Herman. Thrilled at the idea of a boy the entire family proceeded to pamper him. Somehow Mr. & Mrs. Zibell and his sisters raised him to be all boy, all man that stood on his own two feet, He did just that!
When the original Gardenspot Grange Hall was replaced, the Zibells built this barn and milk house with the salvaged lumber.
