VIOLET NOLAN ZIMMERER was known as a ROSIE THE RIVETER during the WW II years. However, she was actually UVW (Ultra Violet Welder)
ROSIE THE RIVETER and other WW II slogans
This Lady was the posterchild for the HOME FRONT as we were called and the ROSIE THE RIVETER'S were the epitamy of the home front. There were many Battle Cry Slogans some of which follows.
This is intended to feature our Violet Zimmerer as Rosie the Welder, one of the Portland, Oregon, War Ship builders while raising her two children as a single Mother.
During the War years, every street corner in downtown Spokane was plastered with an array of these posters.
Not to be forgotten, we had a price to pay for freedom. The photo below was taken by a Japanese pilot as the first two bombs were dropped on this serene setting. Thus began four years of hell on earth.
Just touching on the life of fighting on the Home Front.
