This photo of the Clayton Class of 1942 is entitled the Men in Suits by Mr. Art Stelting who contributed the photo which was taken in Deer Park WA. The reason for this is that this was the "Deer Park High School Class of 1942." My Uncle Miles King is shown, upper right, in the photo. As Bill Sebright explained to me, 1939 was the last year Clayton School had a high school. The following year the high school was incorporated into the Deer Park School District and after that there was only the grade school at Clayton. Art Stelting, Miles King and the rest of the Clayton boys finished their high school years out at Deer Park High School. (This information is courtesy of Eddie Kingrey)
Peter Coffin somehow managed to annotate ( print the names on the photo) this class picture of a class of children that grew to be highly acclaimed in the little town of Clayton. Just feast your eyes on each one and see how many you actually recognize.
It would be nice if all the students in our class pictures were as completely identified as this one is. Our wholehearted thanks to Sue Rehms for the pictures and the names.
Another class picture contributed and identified by Sue Rehms.
