WWI Veterans in Deer Park
DEER PARK AREA WORLD WAR I VETERANS
The following list has been compiled from lists and other material published in the Deer Park Union newspaper as well as from local cemetery lists (Woodland, Williams Valley, Wild Rose, Zion, Wayside and Holy Family/Kelly) on the interment.net website. There are probably some names of veterans from the cemetery lists who are not local serviceman but I have included them if there was an uncertainty as to where they enlisted. However, those names in the cemetery lists containing information about other state enlistments have been excluded.
Maureen Dobson wrote a short column in 1999 about "Our Boys" and indicated that there were more than 105 Deer Park boys were called in for service in the war and that 7 were killed (Dobson, 1991, p. 43). Another Deer Park Tribune list of World War I veterans was published in 2009 and contains 67 names. As of March 14, 2011, my list contains 112 names of World War I veterans.
